Wake Up Canada!

The historical record is replete with evidence that Prime Minister Carney fancied himself a master negotiator — the chosen one who would bridge the trade divide between Canada and its closest friend, the United States. That claim has proven false. The record is now being rewritten by forces aligned against America and President Trump. Most Canadians are accepting the new narrative, even as Canadian leadership cosies up to China and verbally assaults the United States.

The issue is not whether global forces aligned against Trump are pushing Carney to sabotage negotiations. No amount of speculation can prove that. The real concern is why Canadians treat almost anything the government says as gospel.

It is fair to ask why Carney has failed to secure a deal, and why he continues to claim, without justification, that U.S. hegemony is over. If, as Carney says, the United States is no longer Canada’s most important economic partner, why go to “war” with this supposed irrelevancy?

Canada needs the United States. We will have to make concessions to secure a trade deal. Blind pride will not erase that fact, even if attacking Trump is politically useful for some.

Wake up, Canadians. Demand that our leaders stop treating our number-one trading partner as the enemy, and start making constructive moves toward alignment with democratic America — not communist China.
